Heronsbridge is a Special School in Bridgend, South Wales, which is both a Primary and Secondary Special School. We cater for a wide range of Additional Learning Needs including a Centre for Autism. We also have two residential houses in the school grounds, although the majority of our pupils are day pupils.
Our pupils are taught within small year group classes with generous staffing related to the specific needs of the class consisting of a teacher with a team of Special Support Officers and assistants.
Our multi-professional team includes Speech and Language Therapists, Paediatrician, School Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Counsellor, ELSAs, a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Communicator. We also have support from the hearing impaired advisor and Inclusion Services. We also have an established Pupil Support Team who support pupils with various areas of their health and well-being.
Heronsbridge School uses PROACT-SCIPr-UKĀ© as their behaviour management system. Each pupil is assessed and their needs are addressed to create a positive and nurturing environment which reduces barriers to learning and allows an individual to access their learning more effectively.
Working together we address the learning needs of the whole child to promote all round development.
